As I was wondering around London today, I found it impossible to escape the hold that Topshop, H&M, New Look, Miss Selfridge and such High Street stores have over the British population. It seemed to me that everyone was wearing the same thing in a bid to have the best fashion sense, when actually they were all clones of one and another and had no individuality in their style. Now you may say, what's the problem in looking like others - we enjoy the same type of clothes...so what?

The problem is that you aren't being yourself and you don't even know it. Put yourself in a world in which no clothes have been made. There is no such thing as 'trend', 'popularity' and 'cliques', only each one of us standing naked in an empty world. If you had to choose one thing to wear, or design one beautiful piece of clothing - what would it be? Its clear that we would not all choose to wear brightly coloured bodycon dresses or uggs. I believe that when we are born we are at the rawest state of self. We have no influences from the outside world and as we grow up we lose more of ourselves than we care to realise to the world of high street chains and popularity contests.

Dress how you would if the only person you had to impress was yourself.

Bless you all, Rain x

Top Picks:

http://myworld.ebay.com/noirohio/ (Ebay)

http://myworld.ebay.com/indiecultvintage/ (Ebay)

http://www.samgreenbergvintage.co.uk/outlets.php (Carnaby street)

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://raininglondon.blogspot.com/2010/01/everything-i-buy-is-vintage-and-smells.html' title='"Everything I buy is vintage and smells funny.
